What is Deptford Creek; is it a military site?

reply

Deptford Creek is a half-mile, muddy, tidal stretch of the River Ravensbourne flowing into the Thames opposite the Isle of Dogs.

(we have just seen "The Quatermass experiment" on TV where i am).

As in a number of other films, London's geography is mixed up in this film. however, Tooley Street, Shad Thames, Deptford Creek and (of course) Westminster Abbey are real places.

Deptford is not all that far from Woolwich which in the 1950s was the home depot of the Royal Artillery (i.e. quite a big military establishment). On the other hand, Deptford Creek was never a military site as far as i know.
