A Super Western

I saw this movie when it first came out (whew, 50 yrs. ago), at our local Drive-In. It stuck with me for all these years, especially the haunting theme (found myself whistling the song over the years). I was thrilled when they released it on DVD and purchased it on a pre-order. It is as good today as it was way back then!!! Too bad they don't make 'em like this anymore. Good actors, good scripts and good honest entertainment. Ahhhhh, the good old days!!!!

The Encore Western Channel is running this movie right now. Since they
own it it should be repeated a few more times this week. Check your
local listings for cable and dish network I forgot all about Jeffrey
Hunter...and I love Virginia Mayo in anything she was one of the best!

I just finished watching it, again. Yes, Virginia was great in anything she did. I've read that she was difficult to work with, but it sure didn't show in the roles she played. Jeffery Hunter, always a strong performer. I especially liked him in this role and his role in the Searchers with Duke. They just don't make 'em like they used to!!!

Unfortunately, the Encore Western Channel does not broadcast anything in letterbox or wide screen and a lot of quality is lost. I like Turner Classic Movies better for the reason that try not to use pan and scan. For this particular film I own an authorized factory copy that has widescreen on one side of the dvd and full screen on the other.
