On which Cornell Woolrich novel is the movie based?

Could anybody tell me, please? Because very often novels and movies based on novels have different titles (like "The Blank Wall" by Elizabeth Sanxay Holding (movie title "Reckless Moment")or "The Woman in Red" by Anthony Gilbert (movie title "My Name is Julia Ross).

The source material is "Nightmare" a short story (not a novel) by William Irish, one of Woolrich's pseudonyms. The movie is a remake of Fear in the Night (1947) with a script by the same writer and director of this version. I don't like either of them, but if I had to pick one over the other I'd go with the original. I like jazz music but man oh man is it overused in this version. Best part of this movie is the hall of mirrors stuff in the beginning. Too bad, it's copied (and lamely at that) from Welles' Lady from Shanghai.
