Anne is very nice to look at, but her part could be removed and nobody would be the wiser. Even her big line, "I am always meeting the wrong man" is straight from Agnes in The Big Sleep who dismissed Joe Brody, her patsy of the moment.

Your post is incoherent. Bancroft's character was essential to the plot.

Her quote in this that made my ears prick up was "Look for me at Robinson's." Some years later she was the Mrs Robinson character that Simon and Garfunkel sang about.
