It's pretty intense, and the character played by Tracy shows a lot of heart.

Tracy seems kind of mentally challenged, and it's funny how Wagner beats him down physically and verbally everyday.

The character does seem "kind of mentally challenged", but I took it to mean he was a simple guy who was getting old. And the Wagner character got his for thinking he knew it all.

It seemed to me he was reprising the characters he played in "The Old Man and the Sea" and "Tortilla Flats". Simple, honest men with character and intelligence.
