Set Design Influenced 'Star Trek' ?

That icon of the goddess Ishtar and the double doorway leading to "heaven" sure looked like the familiar Star Trek logo and the USS Enterprise ship sliding doors. Anyone else noticed the similarities?

Not just the set design - the Gorn bears at least a passing resemblance to the Mole People, minus their claws. And the plot could have been a TOS episode, minus the long sequence of them finding the underground world. Just swap in Shatner and replace the flashlights with phasers.

I hadn't noticed, but now that you mention it, there is some resemblance. It is quite possible that the director, set designers etc. of Star Trek borrowed some visual ideas from earlier science-fiction films -- after all, they were people in the film business, and film fans themselves. But I've never heard of any confirmation of this from anyone involved in Star Trek.
