PLOT COMPREHENSION

Since the late 1980's, many people either know the words to the music, but not the music, this means e.g. using words or cliches and not knowing what they mean. "Feed with a silver spoon" does not mean a person came from a wealthy family, but that they were fortunate to have silver spoons in the silverware drawer; silver after being refined has some type of antibacterial property. This goes back to the Order of St. John of Jersusalem(aka Knights of Malta or Hospitalliers) using the silver for wares and noticing the good use of this metal alloy.

With The Man in the Gray Flannel suit shows is what several men went through going back since man has been around. Gregory Pecks character loves his family and had even confessed his past to a priest. He even not married her so that she would be free and not have her conscience bother her if he were killed.

The child conceived while on furlough was unexpected and many men, including myself, would have not thought more of it once I left and never knew a child was conceived. The movie is very good and has a reality side to it.

Yes, I am sure the writers for Mad Men used this movie and shows of that era and interviewed people for historical accurracy; not revisionist ideas.

Thanks for your comments Stvin. As I have said here as well, you have to have been in that situation to understand what these men went through. My reply to "What's the point ?", as well as from others, demonstrates the gap that exists between the newer generations, and the men and women of that era. THat epic event is now just slowly fading into history, and less and less people remain who lived through it. This film remains as an important insight into that era for future generations. Thanks again for your comments, I might have more.
