The kid in Italy and the drama at the office might have been enough.
Let the old guy keep grandmas house.

I was thinking, too, LOTS of subplots. Poor Tom is having flashbacks right and left. His new company wants to invest in mental health care which was a hot button issue then, and still today. The boss'es daughter was spoiled princess. LOTS of subplots.

I thought the well handled subplots were great, and helped make the movie. Even the less important characters were interesting and well developed. Life can be complicated.
