What's the ORIGINAL aspect ratio of this movie?

I want to put it on DVD for my collection. But I only collect movies that are presented in their ORIGINAL aspect ratio. IMDB does not have that. Is there a good site that gives technical info about movies?

If it was made after 1953 than it is most likely 1:85. It definitely isn't anamorphic or scope of any sort. In that case it matters little because all camera negatives were 1:37 and then cropped to whatever they chose (1:85, 1:75 etc.) TV is running it 1:33 and it looks fine which means the director wasn't composing for the crop ratio. When a movie was anamorphic (squeezed) and the ratio is 2:00 or narrower (2:35 etc.) then it is a real issue. You should be able to tell. Suddenly people are nose to nose, close ups are too close, cars pull up out of frame and there is extraneous pan and scan movement. Most editions of Lenard Maltin indicate if a movie is Panavision or Cinemascope. There are many books that list anamorphic widescreen ratio films. MacFarland has a book called Widescreen Movies. In short, "original" ratio is only really important to anamorphic widescreen films. A low budget film like this isn't going to turn up any other way, anyhow. I hope this clarifies somewhat. HR
