Does the story of this movie remind anyone of...

This story reminded me a LOT of "High Plains Drifter" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068699/) w/ Clint Eastwood from 1973!!!

Maybe it was just the short period of time between when I saw the two... but the stranger / gunfighter that comes to town and is seen as the savior when the town council needs help via a hired gun... etc.

Anyone...?

BTW, I have enjoyed High Plains Drifter for a long time & prefer this movie, but it does make me wonder if one was influenced by the other.

Also, see some similarity with High Noon with Quinn as the sheriff without the townspeople support with the final showdown in the street, even though it was bloodless. Also, Katy Jurado is in both movies.

Old post/thread I know but to keep the record straight for people who may be new to this movie and this discussion:'High Noon' wasn't a Quinn movie - it was Gary Coopers.

No one said Quinn was in "High Noon." The point was that it was reminiscent of the 1952 movie -- and that Katy Jurado appeared in both films.
