Assassination scene....gun poking thru curtain.

The handgun poking through the curtain..............
The way the gun pokes out from behind the curtain....and then does a 90-degree turn.....
We don't see the actual assassin.....I guess he has x-ray vision....no need for him to peek through the curtain.
What kind of assassin sticks the weapon that far out past their hiding place, without actually looking at their intended target??
A ridiculous scene.

Just wrote a long post and accidentally hit cancel on phone...sigh.

Saw this on HDNet Hitchcock marathon run right after 'Shadow of a Doubt'. Both were underwhelming compared to his best known work. This one was especially dull.

In that scene, we're led to believe the assassin can accurately aim a pistol/ small arms across a big hall onto a target situated in a crowd. Basically a sniper pistol and the people in the adjacent boxes are practically presumed deaf idiots. 'Godfather' did a similar scene much better.

Leading actress also waits until the last possible second before the cymbals to scream. Hitchcock lets illogical scenes like this to play out for the climax/ movie's sake, favoring audience's emotional manipulation over intellect.

Plenty of other such inconsistencies listed in the Goofs section, like James Stewart calling Buchanan's boys (detective) McKenna's boys (his own last name). This is a remake from a supposed master perfectionist of his own movie? He's overrated as it stands today. I can see how at the time of their release they were innovative etc., but not in the long run.
