Advertising problems
In his book "The Great Movie Stars - The International Years", David Shipman wrote that the advertising campaign for "A Kiss Before Dying" ran into censorship problems. Does anyone know anything about this?
shareWell this film did deal with an unmarried woman who was *gasp* pregnant... which at the time was _quite_ a shocking concept for most of the uptight folks in charge of things back then. They surely didn't want the women to actually enjoy themselves... :>
I'm not positive if that's the reason or not, but having just watched it this evening, that would stand out to me as something 'racy' or 'provocative' in the mid 1950s.
Yeah and she was dating Dwight, too, and getting ready to knit booties so she was obviously having sex with more than one man and we guess others, too.
shareThey weren't booties. They were sox for him, according to the book. In the book, she always started knitting sox for guys she liked.
shareYes, I remember that Dwight mentioned that her knitting socks for him scared him off.
But I do remember thinking that the gloves (her sister sent her) were booties, until her sister mentioned the gloves later on to Gordon.
Is "sox" a real word, outside of baseball team names?
