Have seen this movie many times, and only just noticed the copper telephone used at the Kingship residence. Reminded me of the solid gold phone passed around the conference table in "The Godfather: Part II".

I just saw the film for the first time this week and mistook the copper phone for a gold phone.

I assumed it was gold to show off their wealth.

It makes perfect sense that the phone is copper since the old man owned copper mines and/or copper quarries.

Thanks.. I also thought gold (flaunting excessive wealth) telephone.. but I can believe symbolic copper.

At 1:41, I noticed there's also a large copper stockticker lurking on a sidetable, clearly connected to the copper phone. I collect antique phones, and know most of the rotary brands by sight, this one looks truly custom. Either a great prop, or some producer's office gear? Either way, very nice rotary...
