I wonder why did they labeled this film androgynous?

Just being curious I wonder they put one of the plot keywords is androgyny? I had seen this word under a few sites said about this film but there were no explaination or answers. Can someone explain to me why this film was so androgynous? In my opinion, this film had shown no sign of androgyny or maybe it could be the cast kept calling Anna "sir" is that the case?

Well darielles, I think they call TKAI androgynous is because the characters had the qualities of androgyny. I had seen Anna and the King both had femininity and masculinity into their characters and personality. Especially Anna she seems to carry herself as a woman and a man. In those times women did not had any high status as men, Anna and strong willed women like her broke those boundaries for feminist world. So it was like women wanted to be included in the man's world. I hope this answers your question.

That's cool - it's easy to mix up films.
