Is Something Wrong With My 50th Anniversary DVD?

Most of the movie looks brand new, but chapter 24 (where Anna and the King decide to host the banquet) looks very murky in comparison. None of the reviews I read pointed this flaw out. Does anyone else have a similar problem with their copies?

THe DVD I watched (rented it) had fine picture quality during that part...!

Yet I noticed something else while watching the bonus DVD: When Hammerstein's daughter talks about Yul Brynner "rough", exotic charisma, my DVD gets quiet for a few seconds right during that interview part. It's right after she starts to describe his attractiveness as "uncivilisized". Is she using a word which is nowadays considered racist or sexist or so, and the DVD makers decided to censor it?
Or is it my DVD only?

I've watched the German DVD version of the anniversary DVD, I presume they are mostly the same except for optional German dub & subs, but I am not 100% sure.
