Uncle Tom's Cabin Scene

It just doesn't get much better than this scene. The dancing and choreography are just so spectacular to watch. The music and descant voices just add to the story telling.

Of course the portrayal of Asians in this movie (specifically Thai people) is seriously dated and offensive, but even this is not enough to deter the viewer from appreciating the overwhelming mastery of music and dance exhibited by Robbins, Rodgers and Hammerstein.

I have to agree that was amazing. It is worth it just to see that alone.

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poramenthramaha Mongkut Phra Chom Klao Chao Yu Hua - is that just a long way of saying King Mongkut?

There was a brilliant sentence in an article on Cracked the other day:

"(Note: Because Cracked cannot spell "Saparmurat "Turkmenbashi" Niyazov of Turkmenistan (1940-2006)" without copying and pasting, he will be referred to as Superman for the rest of this article.),"

Isn't that a bit of a daft statement to make about about a film which is set in a historical time period.

I agree with you, laurence01. A period piece is by definition "dated".

my favourite part of the film, i think it was choreographed so well combining the story and traditional thai dance into it
