The Asphalt Jungle is better than this imo

I think Asphalt Jungle is a masterpiece and has the pacing and more interesting characters to edge this out.

I love this debate...and I promise to be respectful. Can you tell me why you prefer one over the other?

I can't put my finger on it. It's actually pretty close to a tossup for me. Both are great entertainment. One thing I love about both of them is how many of the actors in each that I'm familiar with; about 15 in each. Are you familiar with Jules Dassin's Rififi, Robert Wise's Odds Against Tomorrow and Joseph Sargent's The Taking of Pelham One Two Three? I love all of them and have seen each many times. These five films would make one heck of a rainy day marathon.

P.S. Do you have TCM?

I think The Asphalt Jungle surpasses Rififi as well.

The heist scene in TAJ is so well executed from a director's stand point and the acting is top notch...full of great nuance and character building. I felt more of a connection to the characters in TAJ than in Rififi or The Killing. I think Marc Lawrence is phenomenal in TAJ.

I also love The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. I'm a big Walter Matthau fan, one of my favorites from him is Charlie Varrick.

I don't have TCM but I really wish I did. I have a channel called Retro, it's kind of similar but doesn't show the same good movies.
