the dvd is out but is the film any good?

I have always wanted to see this but I don't recall it ever being on British tv.
So I might have to buy the dvd but I read that the film is not very good.

If anybody has seen it can they give us their opinion?

It`s low budget so don`t expect any lavish battle scenes but I think it works well as a more character driven picture. Some nice tensions within the squad are played quite well, including a very irritable Stanley Baker who seems to take a dislike to everyone.Good cast assembled here including George Baker,Harry Andrews,Robert Shaw,Ron Lewis although they can`t always compensate for what is at times a quite mediocre screenplay. One of the highlights is the charge on the three Bren guns but as I said don`t expect too much exploding hardware. It`s certainly not a bad film although not in the class of Samuel Fuller`s equally low-budget offering "Fixed Bayonets" which may also be of interest.I haven`t picked up the DVD of HIK yet so can`t comment on pic etc but will do so in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the reply.
It is mainly of interest to me because Michael Caine is in it (he served in Korea)I think this is the only British film made about the Korean war,Britain supplied the second largest number of troops in Korea.

You`re right, he did serve in Korea and also advised the filmmakers on certain aspects of the production;although his screen time is minimal here with a couple of small lines.
