In the first 10 minutes of the film, I found myself thinking "Where have I heard that music before?"

Answer: "The Bridge on River Kwai." Both "Hell in Korea" and "The Bridge on the River Kwai" were scored by Malcolm Arnold. Both films were released in 1957.

My guess is Malcolm Arnold recycled the music themes for "Hell in Korea"

Absolutely. I came on here to make the same observation. The piece of music he keeps using is the cute "Asiatic" theme that plays in Bridge whenever we see the Thai women.
