The voice of Paris

Jacques Sernas' lines were dubbed by a British actor -- Geoffrey Toone ( he appeared in many films including THE KING AND I)

It was not done by Edmund Purdom although someone has that posted here and IMDB should remove it or correct it. Purdom's voice was well known in 1956 and unlikely to be used for another actor( but not impossible).

You can hear Sernas doing one of his own lines on the trailer that is on the WB DVD.

I thought it didn't sound like Purdom. The person was also wrong to make a big deal about the actor doing the dubbing not being credited. If one actor is dubbed by another, then or now, it is (almost?) never referred to in the credits. I don't know of a single instance even when, as in the case of Jack Hawkins following his throat operation, it was no real secret as he was frequently interviewed on TV.

If you are sure about Toone than YOU can submit a correction - that's how information gets onto IMDB in the first place and how errors (sometimes) get corrected.

A friend who is an expert on this film informed me that the two actors who dubbed the leads in HELEN OF TROY were Geoff Toone (note the correct spelling) and Joan Croydon-- I know he was in touch with Robert Wise among others -

Check out Mr. Toone's voice in any of his films. Also check out the web site for Jacques Sernas that has a lot of background info on HELEN OF TROY.
