Did They Kill Toro's Manager, Or Really Send Him Home?

I just watched this movie for the first time and absolutely LOVED it. One thing though, I noticed that when Nick's two henchmen "escorted" Toro's manager out of the hotel to take him to the airport (Because supposedly his passport was expired)just the way Nick looked at the two thugs gave me the impression they were going to "Knock him off". Is that what happened and I missed it? Thanks!

reply

The manager is not seen after that. Presumably he was merely sent home.

What about the fighter who was beaten in the shower?

What about him?

I never thought of that, but you might be on to something. They were a rough crowd. Like the uncooperative boxer in the first fight -- was he killed or just messed up?
In fact I thought the ending was a little weak, because they backed off Bogart so easily.

Val Avery (IDK the charact name) was really getting his rocks off shoving Agrandi around.

Initially, I thought that the uncooperative boxer was killed…the water flowing was very suspicious, and I misidentified the object Vince brings into the shower as a fold-in knife. I re-watched the movie yesterday, and it is a small, wooden club. Technically they still could have killed him, but in that case even somebody like Art Levitt couldn't have convinced the boxing commission to give the fight the benefit of doubt.

You may cross-examine.

Even for the mob it would be far less risky to just put him on a plane and send him home. While nothing may have been proved, they don't want unnecessary publicity should a body be found.
