I think it started with an R and Uncle Jesse didn't seem to want it...

Roebuckers, a slang term for false teeth. Store bought teeth. As in mail ordered, Sears Roebuck, false teeth. Earlier in the film, there was a scene with a discussion about Uncle Jesse and store bought teeth.

Thanks! I didn't watch the movie from the beginning. It was a very nice movie. Sad, but not too sad...with no bad guys...just life.

Sorry for the delayed addition. The reason I knew what roebuckers were is, I asked my dad the same question when we first saw this film on TV in the early 1960s. His answer was essentially the same as I posted.
