Funny Moment Only Just Noticed

When this showed on TCM the other night, I came in to watch the scene where Marjorie Main's three daughters sing to Anthony Perkins a lighthearted ballad inviting marriage. As they are singing, Marjorie Main is in tears looking up at the black-crepe-bedecked portrait of her late husband. Jess Birdwell (Gary Cooper), catching sight of this, points questioningly upward, as if asking, "Is he in heaven?" Marjorie Main tearfully shakes her head and then points downwards and towards the fire to indicate his whereabouts. Very funny wordless exchange I never noticed before--anyone else catch this?
