What are the chances of a re-make?

Given that everything Hollywood produces is full of violence, what are the chances that Hollywood would do a re-make of Friendly Persuasion? I answer my own question an say the chances are zilch. And this is why the 1950's are so alien to today. Anyhow, it would take another William Wyler to do anything nearly the same and Hollywood is totally opposed to anything consisting of thoughtfulness and humanity...

I know this is a stretch... but don't you think that "The Patriot" (2000) was a kind of way of coming back to this basic premise of "Friendly Persuasion" There is this idea of the main character being forced into the war (for Mel's character again). But as you point out... full of violence especially compared to this wonderful film. I would love to see a new take this story... but fear those who produce it would think they would have to "switch it up" too much.

"Well,,, thank thee."

It was remade as a TV movie with Richard Kiley and Shirley Knight.

It ain't easy being green, or anything else, other than to be me

actually the tv movie was not a remake...it was the sequel that jessamyn west wrote to friendly persuasion titled except for me and thee...why they called it friendly persuasion was beyond me as i have read both books...but it's a good one to watch...

To quote Bruce Campbell: the chances are slim and none, and slim left town. And let me say I hope that never happens. This is a real gem of a movie like Wizard of Oz. A classic film in every sense.

Yes, they don't make them like this anymore and I'm really not sure whether this could be remade to the same sort of standards anyway, so really what's the point?🐭
