I keep seeing this film reviewed as being "an imaginative remake of Shakespeare's The Tempest"; I can't see it. Comments?

There are some similarities and many writers have remade/reimagined/copied Shakespeare so it's an easy bet there is some Shakespearean influence. It's been too long since I've read The Tempest to add anything more meaningful. I recorded this today and my wife is really into Shakespeare, maybe if I tell her it's a reimagining of the The Tempest she will watch it and give me her thoughts.
