When Morbius is giving a back-end tour of the Krell's big machines, when they ride some sort of pod (if memory serves me right) and walk on some level, that scene scarred the heck out of me as a kid. I always thought as a kid that I had some kind of Mechanophobia, but fortunately that didn't turn out to be the case.

Yes the view looking down miles in one of the machines 401 shafts especially on a big screen is enough to give you a touch of vertigo. The accompanying electronic sounds add to that effect!
As I understand the vertical shaft was actually a 30 foot long model mounted and filmed horizontally. Wonder what ever happened to that prop?
Even I feel a bit of uneasiness whenever I watch the underground lair tour sequences. And I like that because, the effects/sets are really spectacular.
