The fastest gun

I read (but I can't remember where) that Glenn Ford was a perfectionist who practised drawing his gun fast, and took lessons from a professional. So for this film he probably was the fastest gun alive. But he suffered in later life because people were always pestering him to do it, even when he was getting a bit stiff.

Both he and Sammy Davis, Jr. and a few more such as the late Peter Brown (I think?) from 'Lawman' could outdraw Clint Eastwood. Steve McQueen was also fast, but not sure how he'd do against Clint.

I'll let you know when I come-up with a new signature, .

Yep. At the time, he was credited as being the fastest draw in hollywood. As I recall, he could draw, cock, and fire his pistols in .6 seconds (Going from memory though). Faster than both John Wayne and James Arness of Marshall Dillon fame.

So those scenes that you see in this movie, were probably not sped up, but was Ford’s actual speed, which was quite fast. I sure wouldn’t want to go up against him. Of course, as everyone by now probably knows, real old west gunfighters did not actually face off against one another, and fight in such a fashion. Had they, they would have had even far shorter careers than they already had.
