Be sure to watch At Gunpoint with Fred MacMurray and Dorothy Malone. It is being shown regularly right now on the Encore Western Channel.

I see what you're saying. Maybe somebody should make "The Fastest Town Alive".

In the real old west, most of the townspeople were as familiar with guns are we are with cell phones.

These are people who came west and faced Indians, wild animals, bad Mexicans, bad weather, no antibiotics, no FDIC insured bank accounts, etc. They would not have been afraid of three scruffy, killer bank robbers.

Both the Jesse James/ Younger gang and the Dalton gang met similar fates in different towns when armed townspeople found out that their bank was being robbed. Both gangs were 'retired'.

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

Native indians were there first and not all Mexicans were 'bad'!

All the townspeople were in the church that was being constantly watched by the badmen. There was exactly one gun in the church -- the gun Glenn Ford gave to the reverend. There was no way for the townspeople to help.
