Just a thought that struck me watching the film's opening with blond muscular open-shirted Denning carrying the radiated man. Certainly Denning is closer then Ron Ely who played the role twenty years later. As for the new 2012 reboot Doc Savage, who knows.

I remember him looking great in "The Black Scorpion"(although the movie
is no "Tarantula") and later in "Hawaii 5-0".
Actors like Richard Denning, Keith Andes, Stirling Hayden, Robert Conrad,
Van Williams are no longer in favor, and perhaps objectionable to certain
audiences...
Instead we have the likes of Jack Black for heroes.
The worthies like Gene Hackman, Val Kilmer are past their prime.
Fortunately there's still hope with Ryan Reynolds.
