His fault, huh? - SPOILER ALERT

OMG, really? How exactly is Captain Taggert responsible for what happens to his daughter? He may have been overprotective but that is, I believe, part of a father's role. No daughter appreciates it at the time; I didn't, but now that I'm a little older, I can see where my dad was coming from. He and my brothers always saw things in guys that I never would have noticed.

The main thing is backbone, or lack thereof. If a guy couldn't deal with a concerned parent or family member maybe he didn't have the best intentions or was lacking confidence. In this case, Elizabeth didn't have enough confidence in her boyfriend.

By the way, in this story, Elizabeth's kidnapping, in my opinion, is Owen's fault. He notices some suspicious fool in the bushes so what does he do? He gets out of the car to go question him. Why; who is he to question anyone? Real smart Owen! He should have shined his lights on the guy, honked the horn to alert the others, gotten the heck out of there and reported it him to the cops.

Dad even gets blamed in this for the fact Madge, his sister, is an old maid who never found a suitable husband. What was she doing hanging around the house all the time? After fifteen years, it could have been only one broken date. This was the 1950's not the Victorian ages. She should have fixed herself up and gone out socially instead of moping around the house looking like someone's grandmother.

Notice how she didn't disagree that her so-called lost love Charlie Collins was a lying loser. Her brother didn't drive him off. If Charlie really cared for her he'd have stuck it out or even asked her to run off with him. Maybe she's just good at picking losers or is driving the guys away.

In any case, stop blaming Dan, none of this is his fault!

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Yeah, I have to agree with you on all of that. And what was Madge, Miss Havisham? She was twenty-two when the boyfriend got run off.
