Is this film availabe today?

I would like to watch (and buy) this film. Sadly there is no sign of it at Amazon. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, I'd never heard of it either until the brilliant interview with Harry Belafonte last night on BBC Radio 4.

Although it sounds like it was a politically significant document of the time, it looks like 'the consumer' will be denied a chance. Just because the Apartheid regime was eventually broken, does that really mean that filmed evidence of Africa's struggle is no longer of use anywhere? No!

And another reason I'd like this released again: I would love to see Miriam Makeba's first appearance on screen. And I know quite a few people who love to see "Mama Africa" honoured too.

Keep an eye on TCM....I had never heard of this movie/documentary until it came on this channel. It was excellent!!! Really tells how it was back then. Anyway....as I said, keep an eye out for this on TCM and maybe you can record it. I have it on my dvr now......I'm going to transfer it to disk so I can add to my collection.
If you havent found it by now....maybe i can send you a copy? Or maybe I can put it up on youtube. (If it isn't there already)

This probably won't be much help to you unless you are checking your post every 5 seconds for a few years but, this documentary is currently (as I type this) showing on TCM. That being said, TCM will often offer films it is airing each month for sale on its website store. You should check it out. :)

(I fell asleep on the couch before this documentary came on. When I woke up there was some jerk woman yelling at this poor man because he had just thrown out her mushroom soup! She continued to scream and be demeaning because of this simple mistake - she was even calling him Jake..........that is not the man's name!!!!!)
