Debbie Reynolds so sexy

I've seen Singin' in the Rain a bunch of times and I never thought Debbie Reynolds was sexy. Talented and entertaining, yes, but not sexy. (Cyd Charisse and Jean Hagen, on the other hand ...)

But this movie, Debbie was smokin' hot! Super sexy. RAWR!

Janet! Donkeys!

reply

True, she's quite sexy and natural.

reply

I agree. Drop-dead gorgeous.

And she gave a great performance, I thought. (Only one in the whole film to win an award for it, even if it was an award that you never hear about)

It was a hoot to see Debbie not singing, not dancing, not even in color, just acting like a New York girl who don't want no big wedding... It's a gem.

I agree! I never saw this film until yesterday, and I thought Debbie Reynolds was terrific - beautiful, real and believable.

Debbie is always beautiful, and highly underrated in the sexy department.

I really liked her in this. She was naturally pretty, honest, and down to earth in this film. She wasn't the saccharine sweet character as she had been in her previous films prior to that. A real refreshing change

Debbie Reynolds is also good as the about-to-be married daughter of Fred Astaire and Lilli Palmer in The Pleasure of His Company. Her step-father is played by Bette Davis's ex-husband, Gary Merrill.

Carrie Fisher did a tribute to her mom on TCM, and they run it pretty often (link below).

She says "In an era when cute would have been good enough, she was so much more. In The Catered Affair, there's a serious young actress there, who just didn't get many opportunities for dramatic roles."
