I strangely admire this film

I completely agree with others that have said this movie is beyond ridiculous, that Don Murray's character is so incredibly unlikable, and that his sudden change at the end was too forced; he may even be the most annoying character I've ever seen. Almost the whole time, I was laughing at moments the movie wouldn't have wanted me to.

Despite all of that, I somehow liked this movie.

I was never bored, and I found myself caring about whether Cherie would get away from Bo or if she'd somehow be persuaded to marry him by the end.

I guess the idea of some obnoxious guy trying to force a girl to marry him until he gets his ass kicked is appealing to me. There was a certain satisfaction I felt during the fight scene, even though it's where I laughed the most.

It's not a great movie, but I had fun watching it. I'd give it 7/10.

I agree--not the best film but I'm from Phoenix where some of this was filmed (I was 2 at the time) so it has a lot of sentimental value. The fairgrounds where scenes were filmed hasn't changed much at all to this very day. The rest of the city is virtually unrecognizable from what it was 40-50 years ago.
