Do you like this version better than Bachelor Mother?

I like the original better. This one had potential, but I think they should have just left it as a comedy. Debbie Reynolds was great, but whatever possessed them to cast Eddie Fisher. I know, the Debbie/Eddie thing, but he is horrible.

Would be interested to know how it did box office wise when it was released, if it did good based on Debbie/Eddie, or if people were turned off by him.

Based on the fact that I just saw this about a night ago and LOVED IT! and the fact that the clips I've seen of the original seem almost exactly the same, just with a different cast and without the songs, I'd say I like this one better---cause I personally really liked the songs, the look of it, and the fact that it reminded me of a happy-go-lucky sitcom, wherein everything will be alright. Plus, generally speaking, I only really like Ginger Rogers with Fred Astaire, cause she always seems classy and sophisticated with him. Without him though, she does not. She seems kind of trampy, in fact. And, I guess that's alright for the folks who like that sort of thing. But, Debbie comes across as much more mature and wholesome in this film. So, I prefer this version.
