Two very good pieces of acting

This film came up on British TV yesterday again. I usually find Mickey Rooney annoying, but he did a great piece of acting in the craps game, with different expressions flitting across his face. Don Taylor appeared almost too nice and genial for a sergeant in the first part of the film, but then there was his remarkable transformation in to a tough NCO. Wendell Corey was OK, and the three performances helped a routine film along. The extended romancing in the first part went on too long for my liking.
