I always knew that James Mason was a great actor, but he was so good in this one, he scared me to death.
Who knew how beautiful Barbara Rush was? She was pretty in Flamingo Road, but I had never seen her as a young actress. She was good too. A very strong woman sticking by her man...although nowadays she would just be called a victim. I wish I had her strength. Sometimes I try to find it.
You should watch "The Young Philadelphians". Barbara Rush was beautiful in that movie as well.

shareJason Mason's character was completely deranged. It reached its peak towards the end where he attempts to kill his son. A powerful scene though it was enhanced by the techniques used.
