Pretty good, but definitely not great

It kind of pains me to see Joan Fontaine and Dana Andrews, two actors whose work I have admired so much from other, earlier, pictures, doing something so schlocky as this.

It was definitely a low-budget B, at best, picture.

Always fun to dredge up a film noir crime drama I haven't seen before, but this was NOT a great film.

~~~Major Spoiler~~~
Intentionally getting yourself convicted of a murder nobody knows you committed, even though you have an escape hatch* seems too far fetched for me.
*The escape hatch/alibi being the pictures. Why would you trust -ANYONE- to maintain possession of the only thing keeping you from the electric chair?
