Deserves a Remake

The battle of the River Platte is a fantastic story that must be told, yet this film does a very poor job of it! The battle scenes were confusing and did not really convey what really happened. More so they were so 1956 and often totally hooky in a model kinda way (like when airplane takes of on a string).

And so much time was wasted on the room full British commanders ... who added very little to the story. More so the film is just to British-centeric. The German side of the story is equally as compelling. Finally the portrayal of Monte Video was a total joke (was it 1956 or 1939).

This is a great story ... told by a bad film. PLEASE REMAKE!!!!!!

The battle of the River Platte ...

That's exactly why the first US release was renamed to be Pursuit of the Graf Spee in case any Americans thought that it was about the River Platte and that it was a Western 

It was really about The Battle of the River Plate which is in South America between Argentina and Uruguay.

Why was the room full of commanders such a waste of time? It lets you know about the people who led the fighting of the battle and it sets you up for the joke about the list of spares from "Hooky" Bell.

Yes, the film is British-centric. But who won? History is always told by the winners 
It actually gives a very good idea of the Germans' point of view
