heard a strange rumor about a remake...

I was looking through a Wikipedia article about remakes and saw "The Bad Seed" on the list, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_remakes_A-M , I didn't think much of it till I saw that apparently there is one in 2007 directed by Eli Roth. huh? I know, I know, it's wikipedia, and it could have just been some vague rumor someone decided to post, or just plain crap, but it just confused me. lol.

Apparently this has been cancelled. The 1956 film is far from perfect, for reasons discussed elsewhere, but I see no need for another remake unless they actually go back to the original William March novel.

I think it might be the new film "Orphan" that might have been suggested...the plot is very similar to the story line in “The Bad Seed“.

The Bad Seed was remade for television in 1985, and the results weren't too good. Despite a mostly impressive cast, the new actors couldn't match the performances in the original film. I also missed Harold Rosson's cinematography and Alex North's music score (with Maurice De Packh's great orchestrations).

Eli was set to remake this, however like most films it fell through. Too bad, I would have liked to see his perspective on this classic.

I would not surprised that the idea for a remake metamorphosed into the movie Orphan and was done by a different director than planned. They could have decided to change the storyline a little and add a twist then top it off with a new title. You would have to be an idiot not to see that the writer must have been inspired by The Bad Seed.

The scary clown doll is hiding under my bed.
