Who do you consider as the main character of Baby Doll?

I don't feel that it is the top billed characters, Archie Lee or Baby Doll. I feel it is Silva Vacarro (Wallach). He sums up their personalities and rearranges the pecking order the moment he steps foot on Tiger Tail property. To me, Baby Doll and Archie Lee are meant to be dynamic supporting characters to Silva Vacarro. I have often wondered if others would agree with this, since it's interesting to note that quite a few scenes take place before Silva Vacarro enters into the story.

Well, Carroll Baker is the titular character.
(In more ways than one.)
That makes her the protagonist.

No, It's Archie Lee, he is the main character because this is about his predicament(s). Silva is a supporting character because everyone is a result of his actions. Sil is a result and competition in more ways than one...but it is all a result of Archie Lee's actions. Everyone in this movie "revolves" around him, everyone is a cause and effect because of him.
