What song does she play when she first meets Burt?

What is their song, that plays thru-out the movie? It was really lovely and sounded familiar - does anyone know please?

It's titled Autumn Leaves, a big hit for Nat King Cole.

I like that song, but I mean the one she plays on the juke box when she first meets Burt at the restaurant - a melody that comes up again in later scenes. Are they Autumn Leaves too but w/o the singing?

I believe so.

Am watching right now on TCM and yes, the song on the juke box is a very schmaltzy orchestra version of autumn leaves, which turns kinda jazzy in the middle. Cliff Robertson whistles along before Crawford let's him join her at her booth.

lol, really....a more interesting question would have been: what was the name of the composition that the pianist was playing when Crawford attended the concert at Symphony Hall? Recognizable in the piece was the melody used for the popular song "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows."

It is indeed! Thanks for the info.

You're welcome!

As you might guess by my user name, that was an easy one for me to answer (well, OK, I had to look up the opus number, but the rest I knew).

Playing the piece, however - not so easy!

Great! you were all over it my friend.

Does anyone know what the modern jazz instrumental piece was that was playing on the jukebox when Joan first went into the diner, before she put a coin in and played 'Autumn Leaves'? Sounds like Claude Thornhill, but I'm not certain.
