I posted this elsewhere, but it bears repeating. I can only add that the movie-watching public lost a damn good one when Jack Palance passed away.

He could read the telephone book out loud and scare the Yell out of you. His soft voice always carried an undertone of menace about it, and when he got mad, head for the hills!

In the poker game scene with Albert, Marvin and Smithers, watch Palance's facial expressions. His cadaverous face ripples with malevolence and signals that he is just LOOKING to rip Albert's guts out.

Another good performance is in "Panic in the Streets", where he projects a sinister character so well it is almost physical. You DO NOT want to get on the wrong side of this guy.

Palance was awesome in this film. The grenade threatening line reminded me of Day Lewis in There will be Blood.
