Eddie Albert was a war hero!

Indeed in WWII he served with honor and distinction. A MAN.

I find it interesting he accepted this role as a craven coward villain.

I have a drama background myself and he probably saw this as a challenge. A stretch. Well done Eddie!

He conned a landing craft in the bloody landing at Tarawa and under direct fire saved Marines drowning on a tide-flooding reef.

It's called 'acting'-all professional actors do or say things that the actual person hasn't actually done (with the possible exception of Audie Murphy!).

'What is an Oprah?'-Teal'c.

All the principal actors were combat veterans. Perhaps that added to the authenticity of this movie.

Hey folks,

Absolutely. Albert and many others of the ensemble cast were all war veterans and heroes in their own rights. They were also quite good actors.

Best wishes,
