London Bridge is Falling Down...
Why the quirky tune when Erskine was wigging out?
shareIt was a typical nursery tune or children's music... the shock and stress Cooney was feeling brought back some unpleasant childhood memories, and knocked his mind into a child-like state. Hence the children's song.
It wasn't necessary. We got the message without the music hitting us over the head. I found it very annoying, the only false note in an otherwise powerful movie and easily one of Aldrich's best movies.
