Hot Air Balloon in Jules Verne's novel....

I just finished reading Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days, and there isn't any Balloon travelling in it at all! I loved this movie as a child & now in my 40's I finally got around to reading it... Even as he's approaching London near the end of the novel I was saying "I guess here is where he finally gets on that damn balloon." Nope.

reply

Yeah I read the novel when I was 14 and I was disappointed too that there was no hot air balloon either.

reply

No hot air balloon in the movie either...

"I beseech ye in the bowels of Christ, think that ye may be mistaken."

reply

Which version are you talking about Denham? Because the 1956 and the 2004 versions both have hot air balloons.

reply

Haven't seen the 2004 version, but in the 1956 movie it's a gas balloon, not hot air, there's no burner. They ascend by releasing ballast and descend by releasing gas. From the balloon, that is.

"I beseech ye in the bowels of Christ, think that ye may be mistaken."

reply

OHHHH!!! Ok you are right, sorry for that.
