wtf at the ending?

I am flabbergasted, was expecting some kind of closure &c. Just wow I am shook. Maybe it's because I am just young but still.

I know right? Terrible ending, I dropped my rating for the movie a whole point just because of it.

I actually LOVE the ending, it was SO WTF? It felt like something the Coen Brothers or Terry Gilliam would've done.

I was thinking more like Monty Python

... Terry Gilliam ...

I was thinking more like Monty Python.
Actually, I enjoyed Michael Palin's Around the World in 80 Days (1989) more than Michael Todd's version. Both strayed from Verne's route, but only slightly.

Maybe the worst ending I've ever seen.

We live in an era when people commonly talk for longer and about more than they need to.

The story was finished. All the ends were wrapped up. I'm happy with it.

God knows what these complainers would have made of the end to Hamlet.

I agree.
The movie just ended. It was so abrupt. Couldn't they have wrapped it up better with a kiss at the wedding and a slow fade out?

reply

That was a very unexpected ending. I wanted the movie to have some closure too.

Fogg arrives at the Reform Club just as the clock is chiming. He says good evening to them, they respond in kind. The princess comes walking into the room. Hinshaw drops his tray of drinks. One member says: Good lord, a woman... in the club!
Fogg tells her that no woman has ever set foot in the Reform Club, stating that it would be the end of the British Empire. A painting falls off the wall, as Passepartout comes in a window. Cut to Robert Morley who says: This is the End.
Roll credits.
