Since when should people be surprised that gays could be violent? A sizable percentage of ancient warriors were homosexual and likely most of your heroes. Maybe even over 40%!
All of humanity is an animal which is equally capable of the potential to distribute death, destruction, barbarism and cruelty regardless of gender, race, sexual preference, religion or political party.
Women are also very capable of being violent, sadistic and cruel. Or is that too much of a stretch?
