Lots of dialogue. Battle scenes are pretty weak. Richard Burton gives a good performance although many are distracted by his wig. All in all I enjoy the film, although Oliver Stone's version is superior.

The film has been on DVD for quite some time and Twilight Time just released the film on blu ray, although it's a bit on the expensive side at $29.95.

Thanks, it's actually one of Alexander's lines in the Oliver Stone film! One of my favorite speeches from that film.

The battle scenes are pretty weak and it tried to condense a lot of history in a 2 hour movie. I got the movie in 2 DVD pack along with Solomon and Sheba.

I find this film poor I'm afraid. It's very wordy and Burton is very stagey and the action scenes are rubbish. I think Claire Bloom and Frederick March and a lot of the supporting cast do good job but it's such a hurried trot though history it leaves the centre of the film empty. It's a pity, I remember quite enjoying this film as a kid.
About the only good thing is that I got to the end which is more than I can say about the Oliver Stone version.
