As a kid, I recall he was a decent guy who really seemed to care about Barbara and Paul, but once he learned his mom, who was a maid for the Steinbeck family I believe switched him as a baby with the real heir , Gunther I think his name was, he changed and became evil. Does anyone believe he really loved Emily at one time? I can understand him being hurt when he discovered Paul’s 1st fling with Emily, but he didn’t have to try and choke Emily to death.

Babs had given Paul up but because she believed James really loved her, she left Tom at the alter and married James. After they got Paul back, he began a smuggling ring thru Fashions Ltd and began an affair with Margo.
As a kid, I recall his affair with Margo. But I thought Barbara was in college or fashion school when she got pregnant with Paul. I recall she almost aborted him. Interesting to know James was always a slimeball.
shareI believe Barbara had Paul before she came back to Oakdale in the late 70s. I don't recall that she was pregnant onscreen. I don't think anyone knew about Paul, including Tom or Kim. I could be wrong because it's been awhile.

shareI think Monica was friends with Dusty. I recall when James was involved with the mother and daughter. I felt bad for Monica since she was a virgin when James misused her. Weren't there rumors that James killed her mom. I know Monica married someone else.
