Pure garbage....and I loved every minute of it.

Definitely a guilty pleasure. Cleo Moore, Jan Sterling, Audrey Totter, and Juanita Moore all in one flick. Lots of fun.

I thought it was pretty good. :-) I took it fairly seriously though. (when you take out the fact it took place in the 1950's) Have you seen the movie "Caged!" it's alot like this movie and is also good.

"Caged" is a great film--a bit more realistic and gritty. In "Women's Prison", the inmates looked like cigarette girls at The Stork Club which added to the fun.

Great description of the "inmates." Just saw a clip with Jan Sterling and Phyllis Thaxter being taken to "stir." Am going to download the movie from Amazon.com shortly. Am so excited about seeing it I can't stand it. lol

So true and probably the main reason why this movie is something of a cult film today.

I'm watching it now. I guess back in the day it was very edgy.
I didn't catch where this prison is supposed to be; evidently someplace with few minorities; although several women have southern accents. This place is ripe for a riot, with so few guards in poorly structured environment.

I took both Women's Prison and Caged fairly seriously. But I loved the part in this one the two women guards are talking about prison movies and how they always get everything wrong. It made me chuckle.
